Ode to Cole

The picture on our header is of Cole and the kids in front of the Columbus Ohio temple. We took a quick trip up there with the Bright family just before Cole started classes for this semester. I just have to say how greatful I am for Cole Blair.
There may be men out there who work as hard without complaining as Cole does. There may be some who unfailingly get up in the early morning hours and head off to work or school, pausing to kiss their sleeping wives and children. There may be some who give of themselves willingly to their church obligations, sacrificing the little time they have to fulfill their duties. There may be men who know what is right even when it comes to the smallest things and unflinching they carry them out day after day year after year with honesty and grace. There may be some who are filled with a thirst to better themselves and gain knowledge and understanding even at a sacrifice. There may be some who pay attention to the needs of their wives and children and quietly and genourously give what is required of them. There may be other men that love the Lord and know to whom they owe their lives and all the blessings of life. But what are the chances that any one man has all these qualities at once? I count myself truly blessed to have been chosen by the one and only Cole David Blair.

"...live in thanksgiving daily, for the many mercies and blessings which he doth bestow upon you."

I have to admit that there are moments I forget how blessed I am, but I am. This weekend my friend Jenny Bright had an extra spot in a 5k race for me. Running yeah! For me running is a way of feeling my blessings. The breath of life in me, my body working the way it should, my heart pumping, and all that has been created upon this earth, I feel truly alive and grateful when I run. I really needed that reminder this weekend because I was feeling a little under the weather, under the trees actually. When we moved here to this beautiful state I found out I'm allergic to the trees that make it so beautiful, bummer. Anyway, this weekend I had a particularly tough battle with those trees and I was glad for reminders that life is sweet and wonderful even when it feels hard. I'm so very grateful for my knowledge that life has purpose and that purpose is to find joy. I'm also grateful for my belief in the eternal nature of families because my sweet children and my wonderful husband bring me so much joy.
