Fall = Balloon Fiesta

Went to a balloon glow tonight. Albuquerque's claim to fame is our international balloon fiesta. It felt a little sentimental for me because at last years fiesta my grandpa, who was a balloon pilot, was still around. It was pretty incredible to walk amongst the balloons and count down with the crowd as over 30 balloons lit up simultaneously. We walked under a haunted house balloon and the wind tipped it toward us and it truly felt like this gigantic house would fall on us. Hyrum almost peed his pants I think. Being an international event Cole was able to converse with some Brazilians. The night ended with fireworks...fabulous fireworks. We would love to have company for next year's show. Come see us friends and we will share our balloon fiesta with you next time. It was very worthwhile.

Believing

It is easy to believe in the atonement of Jesus Christ, to accept that it can heal all hurts and erase all wrongs, until you need it. Until you really need to act on that belief. Then it is easy to feel that this hurt is just too deep, and this wrong is just too powerful a thing to really be taken away. But the truth is, that is when you know if you really do believe in our Savior's love. When you need it. And if you take that leap and push on and say,"I will not give in to this despair." Then you will finally know the power of that ultimate of sacrifices that was made for you and for me,and for every person that has ever felt the weight of human weakness that threatens to crush your world. I know that I believe in it. Sometimes I just have to remind myself that I do, or pray for Father in Heaven to remind me. And then, if only for a moment at a time, that weight is lifted and in amazement I see that I am not crushed, only bruised a little. Believing is not never being afraid or uncertain, it is taking the hand of hope when it is offered.

run

I ran a race today in celebration of my freedoms
My heart pounds healthy and whole inside my chest
while it beats I am free
Free to love and be loved
free to pray to my Father
free to teach my children truths
free because of so many others
who's hearts are still now
Who gave their lifeblood for mine
or live with the weight of war in their hearts
battles have been faught
life has been given
I am in debt
My pulse sounds,"thank you, thank you, thank you"
I want the life in me
to be a victory lap
I get to run,I get to run
and so I will

Drama of many kinds

We are spending a lot of time at my mom's house this summer with all the cousins. There are 14 now as of last Friday. Welcome to Dilynn Perkins Pedrotty! We are so excited to have him. Anyway, there has begun to be a great deal of anamosity between the boys and girls. I'm worried this is going to be a WV thing, Hatfields and Macoys. It needs to be channeled somehow.
Shailee just started a musical theatre this summer. I'm so excited for her. They have three weeks of practice and then one production. She is like a fish in water when she is on stage. She just had her first ballet recital two weeks ago and so I know this to be true. It was so fun to watch her up there.

Love

Why is it that little girls are SO obsessed with marriage? They play at it, they talk about it, they dream about it. I went to the movies tonight with my sisters-in-law and saw a "chick flick" which reminded me that even as grown up girls we still get a thrill out of love and marriage and such. Why does it fascinate us so? That idea of two people sharing life? Why is it so woven into the fabric of our natures. Did Eve know the answer to that after she partook of the fruit? I know this seems like a weird post, but it's something that intrigues me as I have a very feminine daughter and I want to understand her motivations. Did Eve know when she partook of that fruit that even though love meant really hard things, heartache and loss and disappointment sometimes more than not, it also meant our one greatest source of contentment and meaning and hope. Maybe that's what it all comes down to. Little girls are optimists. Any of us who believe in marriage are. Marriage is about hope, and faith in the best of our natures, our ability to love and be loyal, to nurture and to endure, to forgive and be faithful. We as women appreciate a good love story because it rings true to us that loving and being loved with permanence is where our joy exhists.

"Has anyone ever told you you're awesome?"

So after months of training Cole finished his triathalon. He came in before his older brother, which was one of his goals. I am very impressed. Maybe his crazy haircut helped him too. Notice it's a mullet with steps on the sides above his ears, Hidious and yet awesome. Thanks to my sis Elissa, you are incredibly good at what you do. Also thanks to Timmeri, Lisa, and David, the tie dye was a genious idea, good way to keep track of the seven Blair babies while the parents (excluding me) completed the race. Anyway, Great work Cole, Justin, and Melissa. You are all three awesome!

Baby Brother

My youngest sibling is graduating next week. I used to change his diapers and babysit him. Crazy stuff that he is all grown up and such a good looking guy. He will probably hate that I write this, but I am impressed with him. He also just won 1st place in a big local Call of Duty competition and is qualified to go to regionals. Which I guess is an important social skill these days. He will be putting his mission papers in soon as well. Anyway I love him.

"Happy Day Mudder"

Apparently thats what Cole used to say to his mother. For mother's day Cole took me to the running store to get fitted for this pretty pretty present. I'm being good and waiting the last week of the six until I use them, but I am so excited.
Happy Mother's Day to all

all "cooped" up

this is coops night time face wired!

We got creative entertaining ourselves in our apartment, but couldnt take it any more so Cooper had his first trip to the aquarium this week. He slept and nursed for the most part while his siblings enjoyed the gardens and the fish.
